My works deal with temporal and physical transition zones. The negation of a boundary with our environment is central to my dynamic- relational understanding of identity. As permanent trans-beings, the seeming separation between death and life, past, future and present, dissolves for us at a closer look. With the base principle of evolution as a permanent condition of change, wide doors open into narrative speculation. Intermediate states of symbiosis and parasitism, mineral and organic being, human and more- than-human, pain and healing are at the centre of my sculptures, video works and paintings.

Sarah Doerfel's works are shown internationally in museums and galleries such as in the past at the Shedhalle Zurich, the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, the Macro Museo, Rome, the Downstairs at Mother, London, and the Kunstverein Munich. She has received numerous grants and stipends. Doerfel studied Fine Arts and Photography & Video Art in London and Munich.

Meine Arbeiten bescha?ftigen sich mit zeitlichen und physischen U?bergangszonen. Die Negation einer Grenze zu unserer Umwelt ist zentral fu?r mein dy- namisch-relationales Versta?ndnis von Identita?t. Als permanente Trans-Wesen lo?st sich die scheinbare Trennung zwischen Tod und Leben, Vergangenheit, Zukunft und Gegenwart bei na?herer Betrachtung auf. Mit dem Grundprinzip der Evolution als per- manentem Zustand des Wandels o?ffnen sich weite Tu?ren zu narrativen Spekulationen. Zwischen- zusta?nde von Symbiose und Parasitismus, Mineral und Lebewesen, Mensch und Mehr-als-Mensch, Schmerz und Heilung stehen im Zentrum meiner Skulpturen, Videoarbeiten und Malereien.

Sarah Doerfel's Arbeiten werden international in Museen und Galerien gezeigt, u.a. bereits in der Shedhalle, Zürich, im Museum Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, im Macro Museo, Rom, bei Downstairs at Mother, London, und im Kunstverein München. Sie erhielt zahlreiche Stipendien und Förderungen. In London und München hat sie Freie Kunst und Fotografie & Videokunst studiert.
